A major philanthropic investment from the owners of one of Australia's largest civil construction companies is helping to secure a bright future for young people through sport in Central Australia.
The $57 million contribution will enable the delivery of a major sports precinct in Alice Springs and expansion of the Red Tails Pink Tails organisation's highly successful Right Tracks program.
The project seeks to design, construct and establish an Alice Springs Sport, Learning and Leadership Centre in Alice Springs, operated in conjunction with the AFL and the local Redtails Pinktails Right Tracks program.
The establishment of a new Sports, Learning and Leadership Centre in Alice Springs will help to promote sport as a vehicle that can drive social outcomes by engaging the local community in a variety of education and wellbeing programs.
The proposed centre will help:
• Contribute to better outcomes in Alice Springs for First Nations People by providing programs that instil confidence and encourage growth
• Improve school attendance, engagement and completion rates
• Increase participation in sport, exercise and healthy activity, particularly by children and young adults
• Enable expansion of the successful Redtails Pinktails Program to reach more people in the town and region..
SMC has been working with Red Tails PInk Tails and its partners since 2023 to build stakeholder support and deliver the project.
