Fostering Innovation, Housing, Jobs and Community Assets

Southport Sharks (SS) continues to rapidly progress realisation of its vision for

development of world class community, sports and events facilities at theGold

Coast Health & Knowledge Precinct (GCHKP). The project will:

• Create outstanding community assets and social infrastructure that will serve

  and enrich the region for generations to come.

• Promote and foster inclusive participation in sport, cultural and community

  activity on the Gold Coast.

• Facilitate delivery of urgently needed additional housing for Southport and

  the Gold Coast Health & Knowledge Precinct

This multi-faceted project will directly contribute to achievement of the

Queensland Government’s and City of Gold Coast’s full vision for the GCHKP as a

vibrant place to live, play, learn and work. The proposed precinct development is

recognised in the GCHKP Strategic Plan 2022-27.

It will create new opportunity for community participation, provide new housing

for up to 1080 people, generate jobs and be a catalyst for precinct growth,

innovation and future investment.

The project is located in Southport at the north-eastern side of the GCHKP, within

a region of rapid population growth, existing public transport accessibility and

significant community needs.
